A Quick Guide To Getting Your Content Seen On Facebook And Instagram

Getting your content seen organically on social media these days is a challenge. There are so many posts flooding news feeds it’s easy for your content to get lost in between. This makes it increasingly likely you will need to use paid advertising. Using paid advertising is your best chance at ensuring the success of your social media strategy. Let’s take a quick look at how to increase your success on Facebook and Instagram.

Facebook

It has become more difficult than ever to increase your reach organically on Facebook. There are two main reasons for this; quantity and relevance. Put simply there is way too much content on Facebook. With the increasing number of businesses realising the importance of utilizing Facebook it’s easy for your posts to get lost in the news feed. Second is relevancy, Facebook now shows individuals content that is relevant to them based on their activity. Which makes it less likely for your content to reach a cold audience.

So how do you get your content seen by more Facebook users?

There are a few ways you can do this. Firstly, you can “boost” your posts.

Boosting your posts is a quick and easy way to create more activity on your posts. Within the power editor or ads manager you can target individuals by location, age, gender etc. You can set a budget and track how your post is doing.

Another useful feature you can use is the lookalike audience. Facebook will generate an audience that is similar to the audience who already engage with your content, this will increase the likelihood of interactions with your content.

You can also include a CTA in your boosted post if you wish. So, this is a button on the bottom corner of your post – Learn More, Sign Up, Book Now, Shop Now etc. You can then link this to your website, landing page, blog etc.

Facebook Advertising is another effective means of getting your content seen by a larger audience. This is definitely a more advanced way at promoting your posts but it has greater advantages. It provides better targeting, for example you can show your posts to only people who have watched 50% of a video you uploaded. This is cool because it means that you know the people you are targeting are interested in the product or service you are offering.

This method also provides you with more defined budgeting. You can set your budget per day or use the PPC (pay-per-click) method.

Another really useful feature is it provides you with much more detailed analytics on your audience. The Facebook pixel for example can be attached to your promoted post so you can track your audience’s behaviour on your website etc.

The last cool feature I’ll mention (there are many more) is A/B testing. Facebook Advertising allows you to create multiple versions of an ad so you can see what version performs better. So, you can create two ads (for the same thing) switch up the text, images or videos and it will show each ad to different people so you can see which one gets the most engagement and performance the best. This will provide you with useful info for future ad campaigns you create.

“65% of people are visual learners and 90% of information that comes to the brain is visual”

– Social Science Research Network.

Instagram users are primarily female and in the under 30 age brackets. However, now that Facebook is firmly linked with Instagram the user base can be expected to transform and grow quickly in the next few years.

If you already know how to create Facebook ads then you also know how to make Instagram ads, it’s that simple. Within Facebook Adverts you have the option to also display your ads on Instagram or you can also do it through the Instagram app itself. However, note that you may need to alter the format on certain posts for Instagram. You can have these adverts show up on the timelines or in users Instagram stories.

Instagram stories are becoming increasingly popular. How this advertising works is that when a user is looking at a friend’s story, the featured posts are lined up and played automatically after the story they were watching ends. So, your ad is seamlessly integrated with the viewers normal behaviour while on Instagram
